(ن) قَمَصَ يَقْمُصُ قَمْصًاqamaṣa yaqmuṣu qamṣan: to leap, to jump.
قَمِيْصqamīṣ pl. قُمُص وَأَقْمِصَةqumuṣ wa-ʾaqmiṣah: a shirt, tunic. Six times in the Quran, every time in the story of Yūsuf (peace be upon him) — and this word is the knot of that story: first the shirt with the false blood, then the shirt torn from behind, then the shirt by which sight was restored: ﴿اذْهَبُوْا بِقَمِيْصِيْ هٰذَا فَأَلْقُوْهُ عَلٰى وَجْهِ أَبِيْ يَأْتِ بَصِيْرًا﴾ (Yūsuf 12:93).
