— قَمَرqamar pl. أَقْمَارaqmār: the moon; the lexicographers say the original sense is whiteness and brightness, and «قَمَرqamar» is used especially for the moon after its third night (before that, هِلَالhilāl). 27 times in the Quran, every time as a noun: ﴿وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا﴾ (Ash-Shams 91:1–2) and ﴿اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ﴾ (Al-Qamar 54:1).
