(س) تَبِعَ يَتْبَعُ تَبَعًاtabiʿa yatbaʿu tabaʿan: to follow. ﴿فَمَنْ تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ﴾ (Al-Baqarah 2:38)
Form IV (ifʿāl) اَتْبَعَ يُتْبِعُ اِتْبَاعًاatbaʿa yutbiʿu itbāʿan: to go after someone, to set someone after another. ﴿فَاَتْبَعَهُ الشَّيْطٰنُ﴾ (Al-Aʿrāf 7:175)
Form VIII (iftiʿāl) اِتَّبَعَ يَتَّبِعُ اِتِّبَاعًاittabaʿa yattabiʿu ittibāʿan: to follow diligently, to pursue. ﴿قُلْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّوْنَ اللّٰهَ فَاتَّبِعُوْنِيْ﴾ (Āl ʿImrān 3:31)
مُتَّبَعٌmuttabaʿ (passive participle, ism mafʿūl): followed; مُتَّبِعٌmuttabiʿ (active participle, ism fāʿil): ﴿اِنَّكُمْ مُّتَّبَعُوْنَ﴾ (Ash-Shuʿarāʾ 26:52)
Form VI (tafāʿul) تَتَابَعَ يَتَتَابَعُ تَتَابُعًاtatābaʿa yatatābaʿu tatābuʿan: to come one after another, to come in succession.
مُتَتَابِعٌmutatābiʿ (active participle, ism fāʿil): coming one after another. ﴿فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ﴾ (An-Nisāʾ 4:92)
