ق ن وq-n-w

— قِنْوqinw pl. قِنْوَان وَأَقْنَاءqinwān wa-ʾaqnāʾ: a cluster of dates, the bunch on which the fruit grows. A morphological point: قِنْوَانqinwān has the pattern of a dual but is a plural — the grammarians have counted it among the few plurals that resemble the dual (like صِنْوَانṣinwān). Only once in the Quran: ﴿وَمِنَ النَّخْلِ مِنْ طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ﴾ (Al-Anʿām 6:99).
