(ض) قَبَرَ يَقْبِرُ قَبْرًاqabara yaqbiru qabran: to bury the dead. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
قَبْرqabr pl. قُبُوْرqubūr: grave.
مَقْبَرَةmaqbarah pl. مَقَابِرmaqābir (noun of time or place, ẓarf): graveyard.
Form IV (ifʿāl) أَقْبَرَ يُقْبِرُ إِقْبَارًاaqbara yuqbiru iqbāran: to arrange for burial, to grant a grave — that is, to honour man by not leaving his corpse lying exposed. A morphological point: this is precisely the difference between قَبَرَqabara (to bury) and أَقْبَرَaqbara (to cause to be buried), and the Quran chose the second form for God. Eight times in the Quran: ﴿ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ﴾ (ʿAbasa 80:21), ﴿حَتّٰى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ﴾ (At-Takāthur 102:2), ﴿وَأَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُوْرِ﴾ (Al-Ḥajj 22:7).
