ن ق عn-q-ʿ
(ف) نَقَعَ يَنْقَعُ نَقْعًاnaqaʿa yanqaʿu naqʿan: (of water) to collect and stand in a place; also (of dust) to rise (the lexicographers say the link between the two senses is that of "gathering together"). (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
نَقْعٌnaqʿ (noun, ism dhāt): flying dust. Only once in the Quran, in the description of galloping horses: ﴿فَاَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا﴾ (Al-ʿĀdiyāt 100:4) — i.e. they raised dust there.
