(ن) لَزَبَ يَلْزُبُ لُزُوْبًاlazaba yalzubu luzūban: to stick, to set firm, to harden.
لَازِبlāzib (active participle, ism fāʿil): sticking, sticky, viscous. The lexicographers say that "ضَرْبَةُ لَازِبٍḍarbatu lāzib" is an idiom of the Arabs for something necessary and inescapable. Only once in the Quran, in the account of the creation of man: ﴿إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِّنْ طِيْنٍ لَّازِبٍ﴾ (Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 37:11) — i.e. from sticky, clinging clay.
