ف ظ ظf-ẓ-ẓ
(س) فَظَّ يَفَظُّ فَظَاظَةًfaẓẓa yafaẓẓu faẓāẓatan (original form: فَظِظَ يَفْظَظُfaẓiẓa yafẓaẓu): to be harsh-tempered and ill-natured, to be rough in speech. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
فَظٌّfaẓẓ (adjective): harsh-natured, rough-spoken. The lexicographers say that فَظّfaẓẓ denotes harshness of tongue and غَلِيْظُ الْقَلْبghalīẓu al-qalb hardness of heart. This root occurs only once in the Quran: ﴿وَلَوْ كُنْتَ فَظًّا غَلِيْظَ الْقَلْبِ لَانْفَضُّوْا مِنْ حَوْلِكَ﴾ (Āl ʿImrān 3:159)
