ف ت ءf-t-ʾ

(س، ف) فَتِئَfatiʾa / فَتَاَ يَفْتَاُ فَتْاًfataʾa yaftaʾu fatan: (with negation) to keep doing something continually, not to desist; «مَا فَتِئَmā fatiʾa» = he kept on doing. ﴿تَاللّٰهِ تَفْتَؤُا تَذْكُرُ يُوْسُفَ﴾ (Yūsuf 12:85). Note: here the negative particle «lā» is elided, that is, «لَا تَفْتَاُlā taftaʾu»; this elision is common in the complement of an oath. Only once in the Quran.
