ض ی عḍ-y-ʿ
(ض) ضَاعَ يَضِيْعُ ضِيَاعًاḍāʿa yaḍīʿu ḍiyāʿan (original form: ضَيَعَḍayaʿa): to be useless, to be lost, to go to waste (this verb is not used in the Quran).
Form IV (ifʿāl) اَضَاعَ يُضِيْعُ اِضَاعَةًaḍāʿa yuḍīʿu iḍāʿatan: to let something go to waste, to squander. ﴿اِنَّا لَا نُضِيْعُ اَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِيْنَ﴾ (Al-Aʿrāf 7:170); ﴿فَخَلَفَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ اَضَاعُوا الصَّلٰوةَ﴾ (Maryam 19:59)
