ع ر جʿ-r-j
(ن) عَرَجَ يَعْرُجُ عُرُوْجًاʿaraja yaʿruju ʿurūjan: to ascend. ﴿تَعْرُجُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ وَالرُّوْحُ اِلَيْهِ﴾ (Al-Maʿārij 70:4)
مِعْرَجٌmiʿraj pl. مَعَارِجُmaʿāriju (noun of instrument, ism ālah): an instrument for ascending, a ladder, a stairway. ﴿مِّنَ اللّٰهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ﴾ (Al-Maʿārij 70:3)
(س) عَرِجَ يَعْرَجُ عَرَجًاʿarija yaʿraju ʿarajan: to limp; to walk with a limp.
اَعْرَجُaʿraju (adjective on the pattern of اَفْعَلُafʿalu, the pattern for colours and defects): lame. ﴿وَلَا عَلَي الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ﴾ (An-Nūr 24:61)
