و د قw-d-q
(ض) وَدَقَ يَدِقُ وَدْقًا وَوُدُوْقًاwadaqa yadiqu wa-dqan wa-wudūqan (original form: وَدَقَ يَوْدِقُwadaqa yawdiqu): of rain, to fall; the lexicographers have also given as the original meaning "to draw near and bend down", and rain is called وَدْقwadq for this reason, that it bends down from the sky and meets the earth. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
وَدْقٌwadq (verbal noun (maṣdar) with the sense of a noun (ism dhāt)): rain; according to some: fine drops of rain. ﴿فَتَرَي الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلٰلِهِۦ﴾ (An-Nūr 24:43; Ar-Rūm 30:48)
