ش ر ذ مsh-r-dh-m
(quadriliteral, rubāʿī) — شِرْذِمَةٌshirdhimah pl. شَرَاذِمُsharādhimu: a small band, an insignificant party; the lexicographers say that along with fewness it carries a sense of contempt. Only once in the Quran, and that in Pharaoh's words belittling the Children of Israel: ﴿اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيْلُوْنَ﴾ (Ash-Shuʿarāʾ 26:54) — and the qualification «قَلِيْلُوْنَqalīlūna» doubles the contempt.
