— اِشْمَاَزَّ يَشْمَئِزُّ اِشْمِئْزَازًاishmaʾazza yashmaʾizzu ishmiʾzāzan (verb form (bāb) اِفْعِلَّالifʿillāl, augmented quadriliteral): (of the heart) to shrink, to recoil in aversion, to shy away; the lexicographers say that this pattern (اِفْعَلَلَّifʿalalla) carries the sense of intensity and prevailing, like اِطْمَاَنَّiṭmaʾanna and اِقْشَعَرَّiqshaʿarra. Only once in the Quran: ﴿وَاِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ اشْمَاَزَّتْ قُلُوْبُ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ﴾ (Az-Zumar 39:45)
