س ھ وs-h-w
(ن) سَهَا يَسْهُوْ سَهْوًاsahā yashū sahwan: to be heedless, to forget, to be inattentive; the lexicographers explain the difference between نِسْيَانnisyān and سَهْوsahw thus: in nisyān the thing leaves the mind, while in sahw attention lapses through heedlessness — hence the «sajdat al-sahw» (prostration of forgetfulness) in prayer.
سَاهٍsāh pl. سَاهُوْنَsāhūna (active participle, ism fāʿil): heedless. ﴿الَّذِيْنَ هُمْ عَنْ صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُوْنَ﴾ (Al-Māʿūn 107:5); ﴿الَّذِيْنَ هُمْ فِيْ غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُوْنَ﴾ (Adh-Dhāriyāt 51:11)Twice in the Quran.
