ر م نr-m-n

— رُمَّانٌrummān (generic noun, ism jins; singular رُمَّانَةٌrummānah): pomegranate. The lexicographers differ over its pattern: فُعَّالٌfuʿʿāl (in which case the root is r-m-n) or فُعْلَانٌfuʿlān (in which case the root is r-m-m); most hold the first view. Three times in the Quran: ﴿وَالزَّيْتُوْنَ وَالرُّمَّانَ مُشْتَبِهًا وَّغَيْرَ مُتَشَابِهٍ﴾ (Al-Anʿām 6:99); ﴿فِيْهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَّنَخْلٌ وَّرُمَّانٌ﴾ (Ar-Raḥmān 55:68)
