ق ط طq-ṭ-ṭ
(ن) قَطَّ يَقُطُّ قَطًّاqaṭṭa yaquṭṭu qaṭṭan (original form: قَطَطَ يَقْطُطُqaṭaṭa yaqṭuṭu): to cut crosswise (the opposite of قَدَّqadda, which is to cut lengthwise).
قِطّqiṭṭ pl. قُطُوْطquṭūṭ: a piece of paper, a writ, a portion; the exegetes have mentioned both meanings here, "record of deeds" and "portion". Only once in the Quran, in the mockery of the disbelievers: ﴿رَبَّنَا عَجِّلْ لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ﴾ (Ṣād 38:16).
