(ض) قَسَمَ يَقْسِمُ قَسْمًاqasama yaqsimu qasman: to divide a thing into portions and distribute it, to apportion. ﴿نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ مَّعِيْشَتَهُمْ﴾ (Az-Zukhruf 43:32)
مَقْسُوْمٌmaqsūm (passive participle, ism mafʿūl): apportioned, distributed. ﴿لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُوْمٌ﴾ (Al-Ḥijr 15:44)
قِسْمَةٌqismah (noun, ism dhāt): division, apportionment. ﴿تِلْكَ اِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيْزٰى﴾ (An-Najm 53:22)
قَسَمٌqasam (noun, ism dhāt): originally the oath that used to be apportioned among the kin of a murdered man; it then came to be used for every oath and sworn statement. ﴿وَاِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عَظِيْمٌ﴾ (Al-Wāqiʿah 56:76)
Form IV (ifʿāl) اَقْسَمَ يُقْسِمُ اِقْسَامًاaqsama yuqsimu iqsāman: to take an oath, to swear. ﴿لَآ اُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ﴾ (Al-Qiyāmah 75:1)
Form II (tafʿīl) قَسَّمَ يُقَسِّمُ تَقْسِيْمًاqassama yuqassimu taqsīman: to distribute gradually.
مُقَسِّمٌmuqassim pl. مُقَسِّمَاتٌmuqassimāt (active participle, ism fāʿil): distributor, one who apportions. ﴿فَالْمُقَسِّمٰتِ اَمْرًا﴾ (Adh-Dhāriyāt 51:4)
Form III (mufāʿalah) قَاسَمَ يُقَاسِمُ مُقَاسَمَةًqāsama yuqāsimu muqāsamatan: to swear an oath before someone. ﴿وَقَاسَمَهُمَآ اِنِّيْ لَكُمَا لَمِنَ النّٰصِحِيْنَ﴾ (Al-Aʿrāf 7:21)
Form VI (tafāʿul) تَقَاسَمَ يَتَقَاسَمُ تَقَاسُمًاtaqāsama yataqāsamu taqāsuman: to swear oaths to one another, to take mutual oaths. ﴿قَالُوْا تَقَاسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ﴾ (An-Naml 27:49)
Form VIII (iftiʿāl) اِقْتَسَمَ يَقْتَسِمُ اِقْتِسَامًاiqtasama yaqtasimu iqtisāman: to distribute deliberately.
مُقْتَسِمٌmuqtasim pl. مُقْتَسِمِيْنَmuqtasimīna (active participle, ism fāʿil): one who distributes. ﴿كَمَآ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَي الْمُقْتَسِمِيْنَ﴾ (Al-Ḥijr 15:90)
Form X (istifʿāl) اِسْتَقْسَمَ يَسْتَقْسِمُ اِسْتِقْسَامًاistaqsama yastaqsimu istiqsāman: to seek to know one's share or lot (by divination). ﴿وَاَنْ تَسْتَقْسِمُوْا بِالْاَزْلَامِ﴾ (Al-Māʾidah 5:3)
