ن س وn-s-w
— نِسَاءnisāʾ / نِسْوَةniswah: women; a morphological note: this plural has no singular from its own word — its singular is «امْرَأَةamraʾah», which is from another root (m r ʾ). The grammarians have called such plurals «collective noun (ism jamʿ)» or «جمعٌjmʿ lā wāḥida lahu min lafẓihi», and its parallel is «قَوْمqawm» having «رَجُلrajul» as its singular. 59 times in the Quran: ﴿وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِي الْمَدِيْنَةِ﴾ (Yūsuf 12:30), ﴿يَانِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَأَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَاءِ﴾ (Al-Aḥzāb 33:32).
