ن ج مn-j-m
(ن) نَجَمَ يَنْجُمُ نُجُوْمًاnajama yanjumu nujūman: to rise; to spring forth. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
نَجْمٌnajm pl. نُجُوْمٌnujūm (noun, ism dhāt): (1) a star (2) a plant without a stem (from its springing forth from the earth); the surah takes its name from it. ﴿وَالنَّجْمِ اِذَا هَوٰى﴾ (An-Najm 53:1); ﴿وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدٰنِ﴾ (Ar-Raḥmān 55:6) — Note: in this second verse most of the exegetes have taken the second meaning, because it is paired with «الشَّجَرash-shajar».
