م و ھm-w-h
(ن) مَاهَ يَمُوْهُ مَوْهًاmāha yamūhu mawhan (original form: مَوَهَ يَمْوُهُmawaha yamwuhu): (of a well) to have abundant water; to mix with water. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)
مَآءٌmāʾ pl. اَمْوَاهٌ وَمِيَاهٌamwāh wa-miyāh (noun, ism dhāt): water; the original form was مَوَهٌmawah (the plural اَمْوَاهٌamwāh attests to this), then the wāw changed to alif and the hāʾ to hamzah: مَوَهٌmawah ← مَاهٌmāh ← مَآءٌmāʾ. ﴿وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ﴾ (Al-Anbiyāʾ 21:30); ﴿اَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُّمْ مِّنْ مَّآءٍ مَّهِيْنٍ﴾ (Al-Mursalāt 77:20)
