(ن، ض) مَشَجَ يَمْشُجُ وَيَمْشِجُ مَشْجًاmashaja yamshuju wa-yamshiju mashjan: to mix, to mingle. (This verb is not used in the Quran.)

مَشِيْجٌmashīj pl. اَمْشَاجٌamshāj (adjective on the pattern of فَعِيْلٌfaʿīl): a mixed thing, a mingling. Only once in the Quran, in describing the sperm-drop: ﴿اِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُّطْفَةٍ اَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيْهِ﴾ (Al-Insān 76:2) Note: «اَمْشَاجamshāj» is plural and «نُطْفَةnuṭfah» singular; the grammarians take it as an adjective by reference to the constituent parts.
