— مِائَةmiāʾah (dual مِائَتَانmiāʾatān, pl. مِئَات وَمِئُوْنmiʾāt wa-miʾūn): a hundred, the number 100. A morphological and orthographic point: the word is pronounced «مِئَةmiʾah», but in the orthography of the muṣḥaf and in ordinary spelling it is written with an alif as «مِائَةmiāʾah» — the grammarians count it among the few words in which a written alif is not pronounced. Also, its counted noun comes in the singular genitive (مِائَةَ عَامٍmiāʾata ʿām), unlike the numbers three to ten. Ten times in the Quran: ﴿فَأَمَاتَهُ اللّٰهُ مِائَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۥ﴾ (Al-Baqarah 2:259) and ﴿فَاجْلِدُوْا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا مِائَةَ جَلْدَةٍ﴾ (An-Nūr 24:2).
