(ن) لَاذَ يَلُوْذُ لَوْذًا وَلِيَاذًاlādha yalūdhu lawdhan wa-liyādhan (original form: لَوَذَ يَلْوُذُlawadha yalwudhu): to take refuge, to hide behind the cover of something (this verb is not used in the Quran).
Form III (mufāʿalah) لَاوَذَ يُلَاوِذُ مُلَاوَذَةً وَلِوَاذًاlāwadha yulāwidhu mulāwadhatan wa-liwādhan: to take cover behind one another, to slip away by stealth. Only once in the Quran: ﴿قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْنَ يَتَسَلَّلُوْنَ مِنْكُمْ لِوَاذًا﴾ (An-Nūr 24:63)Note: "لِوَاذًاliwādhan" is the verbal noun (maṣdar) of form mufāʿalah; had it been from the bare triliteral, the wāw would have changed to yāʾ (لِيَاذًاliyādhan) — the very fact that the wāw remains intact shows that it is from mufāʿalah.
