خ ف ضkh-f-ḍ

(ض) خَفَضَ يَخْفِضُ خَفْضًاkhafaḍa yakhfiḍu khafḍan: to lower something.

اِخْفِضْikhfiḍ (imperative, amr): lower, keep low. ﴿وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ﴾ (Al-Ḥijr 15:88)

خَافِضٌkhāfiḍ (active participle, ism fāʿil): one who lowers, who abases. ﴿خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ﴾ (Al-Wāqiʿah 56:3)Note: in al-Munjid the meanings of the verbs of the root «kh-f-ḍ» are given under the forms samiʿa and karuma. In the Quran its imperative occurs in three places, and in all three it is اِخْفِضْikhfiḍ; this shows that in the Quran the word comes from the form ḍaraba or ḥasiba. In view of the greater likelihood, we have given its meaning under the form ḍaraba.
