ک م مk-m-m
(ن) كَمَّ يَكُمُّ كَمًّاkamma yakummu kamman (original form: كَمَمَ يَكْمُمُkamama yakmumu): to cover, to sheathe.
كِمّkimm pl. أَكْمَام وَكِمَامakmām wa-kimām: the sheath of the date-palm cluster in which the fruit is enclosed, the husk of a bud. From the same root comes كُمّkumm (sleeve), since it covers the hand. Twice in the Quran: ﴿وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ﴾ (Ar-Raḥmān 55:11) and ﴿وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِنْ ثَمَرَاتٍ مِّنْ أَكْمَامِهَا﴾ (Fuṣṣilat 41:47).
