ک ل وk-l-w

— كِلَاkilā (masculine) وَكِلْتَاwakiltā (feminine): a noun always in annexation, used for the dual, meaning "both". Grammatical note: when it is annexed to an explicit noun it is declined on the alif, and the alif remains in all three cases; but when it is annexed to a pronoun it is declined with yāʾ like a dual (كِلَيْهِمَاkilayhimā). Also, its predicate comes in the singular, as in the verse. Twice in the Quran: ﴿كِلْتَا الْجَنَّتَيْنِ آتَتْ أُكُلَهَا﴾ (Al-Kahf 18:33) and ﴿إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِنْدَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَاۤ أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا﴾ (Al-Isrāʾ 17:23).
