ح ث ثḥ-th-th
(ن) حَثَّ يَحُثُّ حَثًّاḥaththa yaḥuththu ḥaththan (original form: حَثَثَ يَحْثُثُḥathatha yaḥthuthu): to urge on to haste, to press from behind and hurry along.
حَثِيْثḥathīth (pattern فَعِيْلfaʿīl): swift, hastening. Only once in the Quran: ﴿يُغْشِي الَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُۥ حَثِيْثًا﴾ (Al-Aʿrāf 7:54) — i.e. the night pursues the day swiftly.
