د س وd-s-w
(ن) دَسَا يَدْسُوْ دَسْوًاdasā yadsū daswan: to be hidden, to be brought low.
Form II (tafʿīl) دَسّٰى يُدَسِّيْ تَدْسِيَةًdassā yudassī tadsiyatan: to hide something, to bury it, to cover it with dust — the original form was دَسَّسَdassasa; the third sīn was changed to yāʾ (for ease of pronunciation). Only once in the Quran, where it stands opposite to "زَكّٰىهَاzakkāhā": ﴿وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسّٰىهَا﴾ (Ash-Shams 91:10) — i.e. whoever buries his soul has failed.
