د ھ رd-h-r

— دَهْرdahr pl. دُهُوْر وَاَدْهُرduhūr wa-adhur: a long age, a span of time; the lexicographers say دَهْرdahr is used both for the span from the beginning of the world to its end and for any long period in general. Twice in the Quran: ﴿وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَآ اِلَّا الدَّهْرُ﴾ (Al-Jāthiyah 45:24) — which is the saying of the materialists; and ﴿هَلْ اَتٰى عَلَي الْاِنْسَانِ حِيْنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ﴾ (Al-Insān 76:1)
