(ض) وَهَجَ يَهِجُ وَهَجًا وَوَهَجَانًاwahaja yahiju wa-hajan wa-wahajānan: to blaze, to give off heat and light.

وَهَّاجwahhāj (pattern فَعَّالfaʿʿāl, intensive form, ṣīghat al-mubālaghah): giving intense heat and light. Only once in the Quran, as an attribute of the sun: ﴿وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًا﴾ (An-Nabaʾ 78:13) — Note: the qualification "وَهَّاجwahhāj" alongside "سِرَاجsirāj" shows that the sun is not merely luminous but also hot; whereas for the moon "مُنِيْرmunīr" is used.
