(ض) وَفَدَ يَفِدُ وِفَادَةً وَوُفُوْدًاwafada yafidu wifādatan wa-wufūdan: to go to a great person as a representative, to present oneself as a delegation.
وَفْدwafd pl. وُفُوْدwufūd: a company of guests who come with honour. Only once in the Quran, in the account of the gathering of the God-fearing: ﴿يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ إِلَي الرَّحْمٰنِ وَفْدًا﴾ (Maryam 19:85) — i.e. like a delegation of honoured guests, not like those who are driven along.
