(س) تَعِسَ يَتْعَسُ تَعْسًاtaʿisa yatʿasu taʿsan: to fall on one's face, to perish, to fall into ruin — the opposite of intiʿāsh (rising up).
تَعْسtaʿs (verbal noun, maṣdar, in the accusative as a curse): may ruin be upon. Only once in the Quran: ﴿فَتَعْسًا لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ﴾ (Muḥammad 47:8)
