س ل س لs-l-s-l

(quadriliteral, rubāʿī) — سِلْسِلَةٌsilsilah pl. سَلَاسِلُsalāsilu (noun, ism dhāt): chain, a connected series of links. The lexicographers say that it is a doubled form (muḍāʿaf) of s-l-s (to be soft and flowing), because the links of a chain, fitted into one another, move freely; likewise سَلْسَبِيْلsalsabīl and سَلْسَلsalsal (soft, sweet water) belong to the same family. ﴿فِيْ سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُوْنَ ذِرَاعًا﴾ (Al-Ḥāqqah 69:32); ﴿اِنَّآ اَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ سَلٰسِلَا۠ وَاَغْلٰلًا﴾ (Al-Insān 76:4); ﴿اِذِ الْاَغْلٰلُ فِيْٓ اَعْنَاقِهِمْ وَالسَّلٰسِلُ﴾ (Ghāfir 40:71)Three times in the Quran.
