(ف) سَفَعَ يَسْفَعُ سَفْعًاsafaʿa yasfaʿu safʿan: to seize forcefully and drag, to drag by jerking; also to scorch and blacken. It occurs with the light nūn of emphasis (nūn al-tawkīd al-khafīfah), i.e. we shall surely seize and drag by the forelock. ﴿لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ﴾ (Al-ʿAlaq 96:15)Note: this is one of the few places in the Quran where the light nūn of emphasis occurs, and in the orthography of the muṣḥaf it is written in the form of an alif.Only once in the Quran.
