— رَوْضَةٌrawḍah pl. رَوْضَاتٌ وَرِيَاضٌrawḍāt wa-riyāḍ: a lush garden, a plot of land where water collects and greenery grows; the lexicographers say that not every bustān is a rawḍah: a rawḍah is where water stands. Twice in the Quran: ﴿فِيْ رَوْضٰتِ الْجَنّٰتِ﴾ (Ash-Shūrā 42:22); ﴿فَهُمْ فِيْ رَوْضَةٍ يُّحْبَرُوْنَ﴾ (Ar-Rūm 30:15)
