ر ب حr-b-ḥ
(س) رَبِحَ يَرْبَحُ رِبْحًا وَرَبَاحًاrabiḥa yarbaḥu ribḥan wa-rabāḥan: to earn profit, to gain in trade.
رَابِحrābiḥ: profitable, one who gains. The Quranic use of this root is highly eloquent: a term of commerce is applied to the bargain of faith and unbelief. Only once in the Quran: ﴿فَمَا رَبِحَتْ تِّجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوْا مُهْتَدِيْنَ﴾ (Al-Baqarah 2:16). Note: the verb form (bāb) is determined from the Quranic form "رَبِحَتْrabiḥat", which is on the pattern of فَعِلَfaʿila.
