ن ح رn-ḥ-r
(ف) نَحَرَ يَنْحَرُ نَحْرًاnaḥara yanḥaru naḥran: to slaughter a camel by stabbing it with a spear at the base of the neck (نَحْرnaḥr). Only once in the Quran: ﴿فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ﴾ (Al-Kawthar 108:2) — Note: نَحْرnaḥr is specific to camels and ذَبْحdhabḥ to cattle, sheep and goats; this distinction is relied upon in the rulings on sacrifice.
نَحْرٌnaḥr pl. نُحُوْرٌnuḥūr (noun, ism dhāt): the upper part of the chest, the base of the throat. (This word is not used in the Quran.)
