ج د ثj-d-th
— جَدَثjadath pl. أَجْدَاثajdāth: grave. The lexicographers say it is a dialectal variant of جَدَفjadaf (with the interchange of thāʾ and fāʾ), and the people of the Ḥijāz used to say جَدَثjadath. Three times in the Quran, each time in the plural and in the account of the Resurrection: ﴿فَإِذَا هُمْ مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلٰى رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُوْنَ﴾ (Yā Sīn 36:51)
