ھ ز لh-z-l

(ض) هَزَلَ يَهْزِلُ هَزْلًاhazala yahzilu hazlan: to jest, to speak in jest, to say something frivolous — the antonym of جِدّjidd (seriousness).

هَزْلhazl: jest, a thing said in play. Only once in the Quran, in the description of the Quran, set against «فَصْلfaṣl»: ﴿إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ وَّمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ﴾ (Aṭ-Ṭāriq 86:13–14) — i.e. it is a decisive, definitive word, not a thing of jest.
